What?
In this post you can find a collection of 12 anti-war caricatures, cartoons and designs drafted as a reaction to the illegal war of aggression that Russia is leading against Ukraine, and the war crimes that Russia is committing repeatedly against the people of Ukraine.
Why?
To call for the ending of the mass-scale brutal violations of human rights and murdering of Ukrainian civilians that Russia has been perpetrating since the beginning of its special military operation on 24th of February, 2022. The people of Ukraine deserve freedom from these brutal aggressors and deserve justice. Bullies like Russia cannot be tolerated, they must be stopped or they will continue to do damage.

When?
The caricatures and cartoons shown here have been developed between February 24th, 2022, when Russia initiated its special military operation on Ukrainian territory, and July 2023. Almost one and a half years have passed and this mad war still continues.
Something changed along the way
Something change during this time, and I am not just talking about the terrible realization that this war shows that good does not always win and that evil is not always destroyed, or at least not as fast as it should.
I am talking about the target of my works. When the invasion began, I thought that the problem was simply Putin, mad and bad, wanting power over Crimea to serve his economic interests despite international law, common moral and ethics. The intention of my initial works was to expose Putin's ridicule.

Since then I have learned that the problem is much more difficult to solve than just replacing Putin. Russia's civil society is very weak - there is no democracy, no transparency, no accountability. Those that oppose this totalitarian regime have fled the country, been arrested or killed.

So my hope that the citizens of Russia, as a self-determined people, would take power and stop this madness is just not going to happen any time soon.

Even worse, the Russian people have been exposed for State propaganda for a very long time and are brain-washed into thinking that it is justified to invade Ukraine, bomb homes, kill civilians, rape women and men, and steal children. This has been achieved following an old recipe, the same that Adolph Hitler used in the past to enable the holocaust.
Putin and the Russian army have earned their place in the history books. Perhaps they will be known in the future as the 21st-century barbarians.

Ending with a note of hope
I have told you I would show 12 cartoons, caricatures and designs. It is time for the last.
As terrible as the situation is, I have not lost hope for peace and justice. That is why I have spent time doing all these works, and that is why I am spending time trying to disseminate them - actually reaching people is proving to be more difficult than to draw the caricatures and cartoons... if you have any good ideas, like doing a joint book or exhibition, please let me know, leave a comment below!
